Acidic and Basic

We learned to read the Ph Scale to see if a chemical is acidic or basic. We learned about weak and strong acids and bases and the reactions formed by acidic and basic chemicals.

Because I don't like Blogging...

I really don't like blogging...so I haven't been keeping up with the weekly Chemistry blog...so as filler for each week I'lll tell you what we've been doing. Like Reactions...which Olson writes as "Rxns". We were learning about chemical reactions and molar mass.

Like Dissolves Like...AND A TRULY HAPPY NEW YEAR!

First off all: What a great way to start a New Year and Decade- coming out to my mom (and getting a good reaction), getting an awesome boyfriend, and today I officially became the President of Spectrum ( Mill's GSA). Now back to chemistry...

Dissolving
is defined as: to make a solution of, as by mixing with a liquid; pass into solution. Eg. to dissolve salt in water (right)

"Like Dissolves Like" means
that substances are more likely to dissolve in other substances with similar chemical properties. So substances like oil do not dissolve in water (bottom). It is often used when talking about polar and non-polar solvents.

What's it called again?

Just bombed...NUKED my final essay in As History- decided to beg my Counseler to let me go into CP next semester. Also want to transfer from ceramics (Nepote's grading is just too difficult) to Choir...or is it Chorus? My "good" friend is being the worlds biggest A-hole right now and he says that I'M the one being annoying. Storm clouds are looming...both literal and metaphorically! Uhh...our teacher did another song about Moles (6.02x10-23) and repeatedly showed us the unit song...it was...loud.

Ground Control to Major Tom.

Today is my brother's birthday, and he got a dj hero video game and karaoke revolution. We're currently all playing the latter. So far I got the best score- 100% on David Bowie's "Space Oddity" ( which I love btw). I also failed my Molecule test yesterday- so I gotta do something about that.
Edit: I retook the molecule test- I think I did bad again.

Conflicting Ideas

We're doing a collaborative story in english- a detective story. I wrote the begginning, another guy edited and wrote the middle, and I did the end (also editing their parts). I didn't agree with a lot of their editations, and in the end I took creative control. They called my ending sappy, which I strongly disagree, just because I wrote strong emotions into the story doesn't make it sappy!

Something wicked this way comes

I'm currently reading Wicked right now and all I can say is that once you read it you can never look at the characters of Oz the same way again. I'm also going to be seeing the play as my christmas present.
